poème concret (2000)

for 'cello, viola, violin, tape
By Bernhard Gander
Austrian

poème concret for string trio and electronic sounds is based on concrete sounds and noises (machines, traffic, building sites, office) which are used by the tape and echoed in the instruments. The richness of this material seemed inexhaustible for me and the choice of sound is not merely a game of recognizing them during performance. The brevity and small ensemble contributes to the ípoetic’ character of the piece. —BG
