The Vikings sailed treacherous seas without the aid of a compass, relying instead on a navigational tool called a gnomon, which mapped their position in relation to the stars. Like them, counter)induction charts a wide course from North America to Europe, providing a gnomon to help listeners find their way through the diversity of contemporary music on both sides of the water.
