Sonati

Fri Feb 17 2006

“Sonati” is a concert of music by contemporary Italian composers. Italy has developed a very distinct musical dialect, with an attention to the microscopic, coloristic elements. This concert will feature works by neo-impressionist masters Scelsi and Sciarrino, as well as several works from the next generation of Italian composers, including the New York and North American premieres of pieces by Emmanuella Ballio and Anne Marie Turcotte. This concert is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.

Programme:

“There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.”
--Francis Bacon, The Essays
